Petchem Zone Development Scheme Marks Milestone in Iran Industrial Advancement

TEHRAN (NIPNA) - The CEO of the Petrochemical Economic Special Zone Organization has announced significant progress in the development scheme for the Petrochemical Economic Special Zone (Phase 2), predicting the groundbreaking ceremony to take place on the occasion of the Ten-Day Dawn celebrations, covering an area of over 3,300 hectares.

In a statement delivered at the "Senior Petrochemical Industry Managers Conference for Production Leap with People's Participation" event, Payam Barzegar, CEO of the Petrochemical Economic Special Zone Organization, underscored the economic significance of the year 1403 slogan, emphasizing the organization's commitment to facilitating infrastructure for investment and public participation.

"Our primary goal and main approach are to approve the comprehensive plan and launch the development scheme of the Petrochemical Economic Special Zone, encompassing an area of over 3,300 hectares. We are in the final stages of finalizing the comprehensive plan, and we anticipate the groundbreaking ceremony for this significant project during the Ten-Day Dawn celebrations," Barzegar stated.

He further elaborated, "The required energy for the production units of the development scheme has been allocated, and we will leverage the existing infrastructure in the current zone to its fullest extent. In this comprehensive scheme, downstream industries, pharmaceutical city, chemical city, and innovation park will be implemented in the initial phase."

Referring to the year 1403 slogan, Barzegar highlighted the importance of increasing public investment in the special economic zone and emphasized the presentation of high-value-added investment packages with short-term returns, considering downstream projects.

"The strategy of generating revenue from stagnant projects will be pursued this year through project reclassification. Many stagnant projects were revenue-generating last year and are progressing well. With the implementation of the macro policies of the National Petrochemical Company, the remaining on-ground projects will also become revenue-generating," Barzegar added.

Acknowledging companies and holdings that responsibly pursue their social responsibilities, the Chairman of the Strategic Council of the Petrochemical Economic Special Zone stated, "Fulfilling social responsibilities is essential for development. Fortunately, petrochemical companies have taken positive actions, such as planting 900,000 seedlings of acacia trees. Also, the removal of No. 6 refineries in Bandar Mahshahr, Omidiyeh, and Hendijan counties by petrochemical companies over several years will significantly impact the quality of life for residents."

In conclusion, Barzegar emphasized the need for petrochemical companies to demonstrate greater seriousness and attention in executing their social responsibility projects, particularly as these projects are delegated to them.
